THE DUMPSTERS – ‘Waste Management’ cassette
Lo-fi, distorted, fucked-up garbage punk. With the bands schtick being that of trash, and having seen them play live while all wearing garbage bags, it is unsurprising that this cassette sounds like it was recorded IN a damn dumpster. Angry mid-tempo riffs plod along while the singer, who is just credited as Garbage, can audibly be heard developing throat polyps, straining his voice like he’s screaming through Jimmy Hart’s megaphone. 5 songs, each as stupid as the last. I see that Painter’s Tapes put out the official version of the tape, which was limited to a mere 25 copies. I got my copy direct from the band who seemed to have made their own copies on garbage tapes. Now, I don’t wanna overstep and risk exposing what’s behind the curtain or anything, but I found this extra funny considering the mastermind of Painters Tapes is one of the members of THE DUMPSTERS. As a garbage enthusiast myself, I will happily go on record as saying THE DUMPSTERS are a damn hit. My love of trash unfortunately has me listening to this cassette on a garbage boombox which does not rewind or fast forward so now I am stuck listening to the remainder of the original motion picture soundtrack to Mo’ Money starring Damon Wayans.
