DOLLAR DRAFTS – ‘Bat Out of Heck’ cassette

Six song debut cassette from Cleveland power-trio. The ‘power’ that DOLLAR DRAFTS has just happens to be their sense of humor. A tight band with pop-sensibility and solid musicianship with a huge emphasis on goofy, idiotic songs. Seeing this band live, however, is a surprisingly engaging and entertaining experience. In terms of the recorded output this is driving garage-punk / rock-n-roll with group chant sing-a-long parts. It all comes off very novelty, but in a much more endearing way than you may expect at first listen. There’s something very charming about having fun, not taking yourself too seriously, but still having the song writing and musicianship to back things up. I’m a little late to the game on DOLLAR DRAFTS as this came out a handful of years ago. So long as inflation doesn’t claim another victim I look forward to my next experience with DOLLAR DRAFTS.
